PHONE SYSTEM SIMPLIFIED

In December of 2006, we installed a new state-of-the-art phone system.  While all of the existing main phone numbers are still active and will be answered by our receptionists, you now have the choice to contact employees at our Fair Lawn, Emerson, Midland Park, and Succasunna locations through an individuals’ direct phone number.  We also have the ability to transfer any phone call between all 8 of our locations.  For example, in the event you are on the phone with someone in our Wantage location and need to speak to someone at our Elmwood Supply location for a commercial project, we can transfer you directly to them.  For a complete updated list of phone numbers, email us at info@kuikenbrothers.com with the words “Phone List” in the subject line and we will send you one right away.

MARVIN WINDOWS AND DOORS MAKE GRAND ENTRANCE

Marvin Windows and Doors has expanded its product offering to include a new line of entry doors. Intricately handcrafted by skilled craftsmen in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Marvin Entry Doors come in a variety of wood species and door designs to complement an array of architectural styles.

Each Marvin Entry Door is made to order based on your imagination or by browsing the extensive offering of vintage and popular door designs. To make it easier to find the right door for a particular project, Marvin has created 7 collections based on architectural style.

Choose from hand-carved appliqués in the Artistic collection, the simple lines of the Traditional or the rugged allure of the Rustic series. The hand-forged iron grilles in the Old World collection or the Arts & Crafts inspired Craftsman series are ideal for restoration projects; and both the Luminary and Classic collections offer soft curves and elaborate glass designs for simple elegance.

Available in Honduran Mahogany, Honduran Cedar, White Oak, Walnut and Cherry, the grain and color of the Marvin Entry Doors is carefully matched for a furniture-grade look. A reverse-grain, face-glued manufacturing technique is used on the door’s stiles and rails, which are joined using a traditional blind mortise-and-tenon construction for additional strength.

ANDERSEN OFFERS NEW LONGER INSTALLATION CLIP OPTION

A new longer installation clip option is now available. This 6 ⅜” long by 1 ½” wide clip now gives customers another installation option when pre-applied extension jambs are used or when unit installation requires a method other than the nailing flange. When applied prior to installation, this new clip features a curved slot that allows the clip to rotate out of the way. When the unit is ready to be installed, the clip can be rotated out and secured in place with a screw. The .024 thickness of the clip allows it to be easily bent around wood or steel framing members.

PREVENTION OF MOLD GROWTH ON GYPSUM BOARD

Gypsum board does not generate or support the growth of mold when it is properly transported, stored, handled, installed, and maintained. However, mold spores are present everywhere and when conditions are favorable; mold can grow on practically any surface. Observing these guidelines will help minimize the potential for mold growth on gypsum board:

  • Gypsum board must be protected during transit with a weather-tight cover in good condition.
  • Plastic shipping bags are intended to provide protection during transit only and must be promptly removed upon arrival of the load. Failure to remove the shipping bag can increase the likelihood of developing conditions favorable to the growth of mold.
  • Gypsum board must be stored in an area that protects it from adverse weather conditions, condensation, and other forms of moisture.

For more information on this topic you can download a free copy of GA-238, Guidelines For Prevention Of Mold Growth On Gypsum Board by clicking this link: www.gypsum.org/pdf/GA-238-03.pdf.

This feature brought to by The Drywall and Interior Systems Contractors Association Inc. of New Jersey.  For more information, visit www.disca.com.
