Treated Decking

Kuiken Brothers company stocks a wide range of treated lumber for all of your decking, handrail and spindle needs.  Our treated lumber utilizes the latest technologies. "MicroPro" which is a Micronized Copper Quaternary, and "Sustain 20T" which is a Micronized Copper Azole.

Micronization of the copper prohibits (to a greater extent) the ability of this heavy metal from leeching from the treated product. It takes less energy to infuse the chemicals into the wood and because the new chemical is much more concentrated, less chemical is actually needed to treat the wood. Because there is less chemical in the wood the overall weight of the treated lumber is less meaning we can get more lumber on a truck. Less energy used in the treatment process combined with less shipping weight also means less greenhouse gasses emitted which makes it more environmentally friendly.

In terms of fasteners, this new treatment process will still accept galvanized deck screws, although ceramic coated screws or stainless deck screws are recommended.
